প্রথম সংস্করণের প্রায় পাঁচ বছর পর দ্বিতীয় সংস্করণ নিয়ে হাজির হলাম। পাঁচ বছরে বদলে গেছে অনেক কিছুই, কিন্তু এই বইয়ে দেওয়া তথ্যগুলোতে তেমন কিছুই বদলাতে হয়নি। আগের চেয়ে আরও বেশি কিছু প্রবন্ধ নিয়ে, আরও বেশি কিছু তথ্য নিয়ে দ্বিতীয় সংস্করণ তৈরি করলাম। নতুন চারটা অনুচ্ছেদ ২.৪.৪, ২.১৫, ২.৫.৩, ২.৫.৪ লিখেছে নির্ঝর রুথ। অনুচ্ছেদ ৩.৪ এবং ৩.৫ নতুন যুক্ত করা হয়েছে; ৩.৪ আমি নিজেই লিখেছি, ৩.৫-এর জন্য সাইফুল ইসলামের সাহায্যের কৃতজ্ঞতা জানাচ্ছি। ৩.৪-এর ওয়েব ভার্সনটা অনেক বেশি মজাদার, কিন্তু এখানে ছবিগুলো যুক্ত করতে পারিনি বলে মজাটা কম! তবু তথ্যগুলো সবই আছে। আর গোটা একটা নতুন অধ্যায় যুক্ত করেছি, অধ্যায় ৪। আগের চেয়ে বড় কলেবরে নেক্সটপ গাইড এখন আরও পরিপূর্ণ হয়েছে।
নতুন সংস্করণের প্রকাশক আদর্শকে ধন্যবাদ জানাচ্ছি। এটা তাদের সঙ্গে আমার পঞ্চম প্রজেক্ট। আশা করি, আগের কাজগুলোর মতো এটাও সফল হবে। আশা করি, আগের মতোই নেক্সটপ গাইডের এই সংস্করণটিকেও আপনারা গ্রহণ করবেন।

নামটা শুনে মনে হতেই পারে, “অপদার্থবিজ্ঞান”! আসলে কিন্তু “অ পদার্থবিজ্ঞান”, মানে পদার্থবিজ্ঞান শুরু করার জন্য এই বই। এখানে কার্টুন আর ছবিতে খুব সহজে পদার্থবিজ্ঞানের বিষয়গুলো বোঝানোর চেষ্টা করা হয়েছে। যারা বিজ্ঞানের ছাত্র-ছাত্রী না, তারাও যেমন বইটা পড়ে পদার্থবিজ্ঞানের মূল বিষয়গুলো বুঝতে পারবে, তেমনি যারা পদার্থবিজ্ঞান পড়ে, তারাও বিষয়গুলোর ভিন্ন উপস্থাপনা দেখে মজা পাবে। নিছক মজা পাওয়ার জন্য পড়তে শুরু করলেও অজান্তেই প্রকৃতির অনেক গূঢ় বিষয় মাথায় ঢুকে যাবে! মোটকথা, পদার্থবিজ্ঞানের সাথে আনন্দময় কিছুটা সময় কাটানোর উপলক্ষ তৈরি করে দেবে বইটি।

খাওয়ার জন্য বাঁচা, নাকি বাঁচার জন্য খাওয়া’ কথাটার সঙ্গে আমরা সবাই কম-বেশি পরিচিত। উত্তরটা জানা সত্ত্বেও আমরা অনেক সময় খাওয়ার ব্যাপারে কোনো রকম ভাবনাচিন্তা না করেই খাবার খেয়ে থাকি। আবার অনেক সময় কোন খাবারটা ভালো আর কোন খাবারটা মন্দ, তা জানার পরও আমরা প্রচলিত রীতির বাইরে গিয়ে খাওয়ার ব্যাপারে নতুন করে ভাবতে চাই না।
একুশ শতকের শুরুর দিকে পৃথিবীতে প্রতিদিন প্রায় দেড় লাখ মানুষ কোনো না কোনো কারণে মারা যাচ্ছে। আপাতদৃষ্টিতে মৃত্যু অবধারিত জেনেও কিন্তু হোমো সেপিয়েন্সরা বসে নেই। কেমন করে আয়ু বাড়ানো যায় আর বয়স হওয়াকে বিপরীতে নেওয়া যায়, সেই পদ্ধতি বের করার জন্য গবেষকরা কাজ করে চলেছেন। এই গবেষণা কার্যক্রমের নাম ‘আয়ু বৃদ্ধিকরণ’ (Life extension), যেখানে চেষ্টা করা হচ্ছে এমন সব প্রযুক্তি বের করতে যাতে করে ১২৫ বছরের সর্বোচ্চ জীবনসীমার চেয়েও বেশি দিন বাঁচা সম্ভব হয়।
শুধু ভুল খাবার নির্বাচনের ফলেই নানা রকম রোগ শরীরে বাসা বাঁধতে পারে। শুরু হয়ে যেতে পারে অল্প বয়সে বুড়িয়ে যাওয়া।
এই বইয়ে চেষ্টা করা হয়েছে খাবার এবং জীবনাচারের ব্যাপারে সঠিক বৈজ্ঞানিক তথ্য উপস্থাপন করতে, যাতে পাঠক বইটি পড়ে নিজেই বুঝতে পারেন কোন খাবারগুলো এবং কেমন জীবনাচার তার সুস্থ থাকার জন্য বেশি কার্যকর।

পাঠকমহলে প্রধানত সংবেদী কথাসাহিত্যিক হিসেবে সমাদৃত হলেও কখনও কবিতার হাত ছেড়ে দেননি মাহবুব মোর্শেদ। অবচেতনের গোপন চক্রান্তে খানিকটা অন্যমনস্কভাবে লিখে চলেছেন একের পর এক কবিতা। প্রথম জীবনের লেখাগুলো চয়ন করে বস্তুপৃথিবীর রহস্য প্রকাশ করেছিলেন ই-বুক আকারে। ২০২০ সালে প্রকাশিত হয় প্রথম কবিতার বই অরব বসন্ত। ভেবেছিলেন ছাপার অক্ষরে এই-ই তার প্রথম ও শেষ কাব্য। কিন্তু হলো না। দু’বছরের মাথায় প্রকাশিত হলো অপ্রকাশিত জীবনানন্দ। করোনা মহামারীর বিষণ্ন দুই বছরে লেখা কবিতাগুলো নিষ্ঠুরতা, নিরাপত্তাহীনতা ও ভয়ের পাশাপাশি লিপ্সা, আকাঙক্ষা, তাড়না ও প্রেমের গোপন সংকেতে ভরপুর। এ বইয়ের নাম হতে পারতো মহামারীর সময়ে প্রেম। বদলে অপ্রকাশিত জীবনানন্দ হয়েছে। কেন হলো? সেটাই এই বইয়ের রহস্য।
