An Intoduction to English Prose is an attempt to introduce the students with some short stories and essays included in the National University Syllabus for First Year students. This book deals with sample questions and answers and it also incorporates necessary information about the author and the text. What is important to note is for each text I have incorporated ‘A Critical Introduction’ and ‘A Critical Analysis’ so that the students face no difficulty in understanding the text and also in answenng any question I have included in this book as many comparative questioris as possible. I have also included some cntical essays on each text so that they might be handy for teachers and for those who opt for critical reading of the texts In prepanng this book 1 have gone through the best books available and prepared answers according to the requirement of the National University Syllabus If anybody feels that any important question is missing, he may easily prepare it from the Critical Introduction and Critical Analysis attached with each text. 1 hope this book will be of great import to the students However, as I had to run against the time, this book might have some inadvertent mistakes In this regard, any suggestion will be highly entertained 1 am highly grateful to some of my best friends who helped me a lot in making my effort successful 1 am greatly indebted to the publisher, but for him this book would probably never come out.
